Welcome!

Welcome! We are glad you decided to drop in for a visit today. Grab a mug of coffee ~ or a cuppa tea if that is how you roll ~ and sit with us for a while.

We are Mark and Virginia and this is Now Here Farms. We named our home Now Here as a tip of the hat to the author Brennan Manning who taught us that it is better to live in the Now and the Here rather than the Then and the There. We use the name to remind ourselves of that, and to remember to live in the New rather than the Old.

In 2021 we migrated south to the beautiful Gulf Coast. We never imagined we would be "those people" who were blessed to live at the BEACH but here we are, 10 miles inland from beautiful white sand (although that drive can be 45 minutes in tourist season).

We had dabbled in quail keeping before we moved here. After the move we found some hatching eggs and began studying the process more intentionally. We found MyShire Farms online and learned quite a lot about these fascinating birds. When MyShire developed Quail University we took the course and it was incredibly helpful; I recommend it to everyone who says they are interested in diving into this.

As Mark approached retirement, we began to wonder what our next season of life would look like. We researched different ways to develop a homestead business and the day after his last day of work we hit the ground running with our first event.

Starting a business of any kind is not simple; I would not want to mislead you into thinking everything just fell into place. It took a lot of work, a lot of learning about the legal requirements, a lot of miles obtaining various permits and licenses. There were times dealing with various entities when I felt as though I were beating my head against a brick wall! Fortunately we are blessed to have friends who are natural encouragers...some of whom had navigated the complications of starting a business.

After 2 years of doing this work, we are still learning so much about operating a business and about how to bring products we can be proud of to your home. We are committed to continuing to develop this business of quail, chickens, gardens, baked goods, and handwovens to the best of our ability. We want you to be happy with any product you choose to purchase from us!

So thank you for stopping by! Dig around the site, and let us know what you think.
